Meet the Team

Tessa von Huben, Director/Physiotherapist

Tess and her partner Tom grew up in Raglan and have remained extremely passionate about the community and the services they offer. Having completed a Masters degree, Post-graduate certificate in Acupuncture and Pilates certification, Tess utilises a broad range of assessment and treatment techniques with clients. Tess has worked in Women’s health, Respiratory, Orthopaedics, Neurological rehabilitation and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in both hospital and outpatient settings. She is a very "hands-on" Physio and enjoys working with clients both in the clinic and on the Pilates reformer. When not in the clinic you will find Tess in the water, teaching Pilates, adventuring with Tom and their daughter Billie or hitting the trails with her hairy Alsation.

Therese Hogan,

Therese is an Australian-trained physio. Originally from a big family in a tiny wheatbelt town in Western Australia, she completed her studies in Perth. She brings with her 17 years of experience in the health care field, most of which has been in physiotherapy including musculoskeletal private practice, aged care and hospital experience. Her therapeutic style is holistic and hands-on, including techniques such as craniosacral, trigger point and myofascial release, using natural oils.

Sam Lowes,

Sam has worked in hospital and outpatient settings in areas including intensive care, respiratory, orthopaedics and finally specializing in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. He has a special interest in adapting strength and conditioning principles for rehabilitation. He is also Pilates trained and will be offering both services to clients in conjunction with usual Physiotherapy care. Sam is eager to introduce a strength and conditioning program specifically designed for surfers so be sure to keep an eye out for this.

Maisie Byrne,

Maisie graduated in 2015 in England where she worked as an Orthopaedics Physiotherapist and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist for a year before relocating to New Zealand for a work opportunity. Maisie has travelled and worked across many locations in New Zealand in the last few years, gaining a certificate in Dry Needling and also enjoys working holistically and hands-on.

Elena Pulido Hidalgo,

A Spanish-trained Physiotherapist, Elena is originally from a small town located in the Mediterranean coast of Spain. Gaining experience in both hospitals and private clinics, Elena realises that well being is achieved with a holistic vision and comprehensive care of the person. For this reason she has been training over the years in different disciplines such as Traditional Acupuncture, Energetic Informational Osteopathy, Yoga (including Pregnancy Yoga) and, at the moment, Clinical Nutrition. She offers a wide range of techniques such as Acupuncture, Kinesio taping, Myofascial relief, Hot stone massage, Trigger point and personalised Yoga lessons, as well as good advice. Outside of the clinic Elena loves to be by the ocean, walking the Karioi or practising and sharing her passion for Yoga.

Jenni Stephens,

Admin and Reception

Jenni is one of the bubbly faces who greets you at reception. She has a background and is extremely experienced in customer service, finance and administration. Jenni is Kiwi born from Temuka, mother and grandmother and has returned home from Australia with her partner to be close to family in Raglan. Outside of the clinic you will find Jenni in a kayak on the water, reading, having a good ol giggle or baking something scrummy (a new found love discovered during lockdown). Jenni is loving the Raglan community and the opportunities it provides to engage along with the amazing people to meet and places to see.

Sophie von Huben,

Admin and Reception

Soph is another of our friendly administrators here at the clinic. She also happens to be a sister to Tess, our clinic director. Soph came to Raglan to attend the Surf Academy as a young teenager, her family soon following with all now calling Raglan home for over 20 years. Soph is also a personal trainer and owner of fitness business SOFIT. She is well known for her popular group and 1:1 training and can often be found in her studio by the beach training clients before sunrise. Soph keeps a busy life with two active young boys and an equally active partner who has surfed most of his life and now uses his skills and knowledge to teach others.

Ruby Meade,

Admin and Reception

Ruby is also one of our bubbly administrators who may greet you at the clinic reception when Jenni or Soph are away. Ruby is an outdoors enthusiast who has worked as a women’s performance surf coach in NZ and Latin America for the past 4 years. Her passion for movement has her on to go with her two dogs, or in the ocean most of the time. She is also studying and teaching both Mat and Reformer Pilates here in Raglan and online. Ruby enjoys interacting with members of the community with her role in the practice.
