Acupuncture is a form of therapy that promotes the natural healing of the body. It involves the insertion of needles into specific points along the meridians of the body. Acupuncture is a safe and effective natural therapy that helps to reduce the need for pain medications with minimal or no side effects. Qualified physiotherapists who practice Acupuncture have completed formal training and received a qualification to use Acupuncture in addition to their four year Physiotherapy degree.
Dry needling involves the insertion of needles into the muscle particularly into myofascial trigger points. This technique assists in reducing pain or dysfunction of a muscular origin. Dry needling is often used to either relax a muscle that is overactive or facilitate a muscle that is under-active. Each of our therapists who perform dry needling have undertaken the formal training in this technique.
